  Time to Open Your Business Eyes

Over the years, many company executives, entrepreneurs, and inventors from the far (east) corners of the globe have spent sleepless nights trying to come up with a product, toy, or service which they could sell to the Western consumer.

What do Westerners want or need that I can make?

That was their mantra, now it's your turn.

If you consider yourself a businessman, you have to consider the overseas markets, in particular; China.

Home to over one billion three-hundred million people (consumers), you have to figure China into your marketing plans.

You don't necessarily have to be represented with a physical location, but understand that the current generation of Chinese travel. Travel is something that was not a part of their culture a couple of decades ago, Weird Science wages and income were lower and restrictions imposed.

The times have changed and the number of millionaires in China is on the rise in a big way. There are over three-hundred-thousand millionaires in China now and the figure is growing.

The Olympics has put China, and Beijing in particular, in the spotlight and that cheaper car insurance quotes isn't going to dim, because it's only the beginning.

Start thinking about what the Chinese will want to see when they visit the U.S.A. and what will they spend their money on... gladly.

Which other countries outside of China and your native country have something to offer the new Chinese consumer?

They want what you have been accustomed to all your life. Luxury, entertainment, delicious delicacies, art, pleasing environment, and that splash of flash.

The luxury goods names are already there or making plans to expand their image.

If you go back just a dozen years or so, name brands would try the market out, only to fold up shop and leave, but that was the old China. Today, China is on a winning streak and its people are on a spending-spree.

Cities to investigate to see if you can do some business in, attract business from, or joint venture with companies already there are; Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Dalian, and I wouldn't overlook the growing gambling destination, Macau.

At least ten thousand new cars hit the streets in China on a daily basis.
Look at the aftermarket for car accessories in the U.S.A. and then think about which items carry the status of being made in the U.S. that will attract affluent Chinese consumers.

True, there are many aftermarket items available in China already, but there's something about the status of being made in the U.S.A. that speaks affluence.

Discover what the fashion labels Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Giorgio Armani already know and that is; people like to show others that they have money.

The old stereotype of a miserly China is fading fast and the smart players are recognizing this growing population of wealth and consumption.

You have to go against what most business people think the market consists of and Rocky Horror to the rich, because in good times and bad times, the rich always have money to spend.

Here's a list of twelve areas that are waiting to be capitalized on by you;

1) Gourmet food; it may just be peanut butter to you, but it's a delicacy to them.

2) Rice wine is common, but a collection of wines of the world has certain flair to it.

3) You take those winter scarves and sweaters for granted, but marketed properly, the common becomes the exception.

4) China wants to know the language of business and that is English. They'll pay to learn and to teach their children and grandchildren how to speak the language of power.

5) Information that you take for granted can be packaged and sold to the knowledge hungry.

6) They think about money all the time and so do you, but they'll sacrifice like you wouldn't believe to achieve success; provide them with business tools, methods, and approaches.

7) Don't let lacking funds stop you, you can license your idea, product, or service to an existing Chinese company or an entrepreneur who has funding behind him.

8) Since over a third of the millionaires in China are females, just daydream about what all women want, need, and truly desire. Matchmaking may be your ticket.

9) Counterfeit items are plentiful, but having official-licensed sport team items sets the wealthy apart and the popularity of golf is growing in China.

10) Fruit is taken for granted, but think of what an entrepreneur started when he started selling Florida grapefruit to Northerners as a holiday gift idea. It snows in China.

11) If Chinese youths embrace the beach the way the youth of the U.S. put a magical aura on California lifestyle; sell them California lifestyle.

12) Just think imported; because there's something about an item coming from another part of the world that gives it a high perceived value.

It's your turn. Cash in on the Chinese consumer boon as if it's the California gold rush of '49. Of course, you could wait for your phone to ring. It's your choice.

Yes, it won't be easy, but I was taught that all good things are upstream. Hopefully, you weren't just taught to wait for the phone to ring.
